Francois Hamelin

     Francois was born on Thursday, 10 July 1783 in Grondines, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Louis Hamelin & Marie Anne Rivard. He was christened on the same day there in the church of St-Joseph.¹ Francois married Marie-Josephe Rivard dit Lanouette, daughter of Pierre Charles Rivard dit Lanouette and Marie-Josephe Declos, on 16 February 1813 in Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade, Champlain County, Quebec, Canada, at Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade Church.² Francois & Marie-Josephte had children: Luce [1/03/1814][m. 2/20/1838 Joseph-Garan Trotier], Marie-Emelie [5/21/1815][m. 1/30/1855 Zephirin Grondines], Marie-Eleonore [1/25/1817], Edouard [9/16/1818][m. 1/21/1851 Salome Cadot], Marie-Angele [12/23/1820][m. 2/21/1848 Eustache Hamlin dit Grondines], Francois-Xavier [4/25/1823][m, 1/30/1855 Adelice Gendron], Augustin-Thelesphore [2/14/1825][m1/31/1854 Marie-Hermine Guilbault], Adelaide [5/17/1827][m. 2/07/1865 Godefroy Cantin], Pierre-Charles [2/05/1832][m. 8/09/1859 Philomene Mairan] & Joseph-Ephrem [9/15/1834-1/10/1848].³ Francois's wife, Marie-Josephe, died between 21 January 1851 and 31 January 1854, leaving him a widower; when she was still living at the marriage of her son Edouard and when she appeared deceased on the marriage record of her son, Augustin. He died after the marriage of his daughter, Adelaide, on 7 February 1865.
