Henry, 1st Baron Grey of Codnor

     Henry, 1st Baron was born in Derbyshire, England, at Codnor Castle. Henry, married Isabell (?). Henry was very active in the service of King Edward I and fought in the Scottish Wars with him and his brother Prince Edmund. History notes that King Edward I visited Codnor Castle in 1293. Also, it is noted that in the following year, as Richard was preparing to once again go into battle, that provisions were made to preserve the herititary rights of his son, Richard, to Condor castle. Henry became the first Baron of Codnor by writ when he was summoned to parliament in 1299.¹ Henry, departed this life in 1308 in Derbyshire, England, at Codnor Castle.
