Allen Goodrich

Allen was born on Saturday, 18 August 1725 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of Allen and Elizabeth Goodrichof Famington. Allen married Lydia North, daughter of Nathaniel North and Margaret Holcomb, on 15 June 1748 in Farmington.1 Allen and Lydia had children: Lemuel [10/0901746- 1/24/1776], Lydia [11/20/1748], Huldah [7/09/1749], Allen [12/08/1751-9/17/1835 [m. Elizabeth Bangs], Jacob [9/21/1753-12/__/1840] [m. Bethia Sears], Hannah [9/19/1756], Noah [1761-3/03/1819] [m. 4/07/1785 Martha Foster], Ruth [1/24/1765-9/10/1840].
After the births of children Lemuel Goodrich on 09 Oct 1746, Lydia Goodrich on 20 Nov 1748, and Huldah Goodrich on 09 Jul 1749 in Farmington, the family moved to Kensington, Hartford, Connecticut where Allen Goodrich was born on 08 Dec 1751, Jacob Goodrich was born 21 Sep 1753, Hannah Goodrich was baptized 19 Sep 1756, Noah Goodrich was born ~1761, and Ruth Goodrich was baptized 24 Jan 1765. It is not known why there are no baptismal records for Allen, Jacob and Noah at Kensington (now Berlin), where Jacob Goodrich stated in his Revolutionary War pension file S28745 that he was born on 21 Sep 1753 (pho- to attachment).
After the baptism of youngest daughter Ruth Goodrich at Kensington in 1765, the family moved by Jul 1768 to Pittsfield, Berkshire, MA, and then by May 1773 the family moved to Lenox, Berkshire, Massachusetts. Allen Goodrich and his legal adult son Lemuel Goodrich each received 174 acres in the division of 943 acres of Jacob Gleason in Berkshire County, Massachusetts on 04 Sep 1770 (photo attachment). Allen's wife, Lydia, died on 15 December 1793 in Galway, Saratoga County, New York, leaving him a widower. Allen departed this life on Thursday, 15 March 1804 in Galway, Saratoga County, New York. He was buried at Galway, Saratoga County, New York, in Ashley Cemetery.2
