Joseph was born in L'Ange-Gardien, Montmorency County, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Charles Garnier & Louise Vozinet. He was christened there on 19 April 1671 in the church of L'Ange-Gardien.1 Joseph married Jeanne Maheu, daughter of Pierre Maheu and Jeanne Drouin, on 21 November 1695 in L'Ange-Gardien at the church of L'Ange-Gardien.2 Joseph & Jeanne had children: Charles [5/07/1697-8/12/1761][m. 11/06/1719 Marie-Anne Vachon dit Laminee & 2nd 6/13/1728 Madeleine Tardif], Joseph [8/12/1699-2/22/1763][m. 11/23/1722 Marie Marguerite Chretien] & Francois [10/24/1701-2/20/1703].3 Joseph died on Wednesday, 24 January 1703 in Beauport, ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada; he died of smallpox during the epidemic of 1703. He was buried there in the churchyard of La-Nativitie-de-Notre-Dame on Thursday, 25 January 1703.4
