     Mary was born circa 1555 in Laxfield, County Suffolk, England. Mary married Robert Lawter, son of Mr. (?) Lawter, after 30 January 1579 in County Suffolk, England. Mary was still listed as Mary Fyske when she proved her father's will on this date. Mary's husband, Robert, died before 24 September 1619 in England, leaving her a widow.2,3 Mary made her will on 24 September 1619.

Mary Lawter of Southelmham St James, widow, 24 September 1619. Soul to hands of Almighty God, creator, through merciful promise in Jesus Christ, shall be a partaker in salvation. To Mr. Golding at St. Andrew's, 26s. 4d. To brother in law Edmund Lawter, 40s. To William Burrow of Hulston, 5s. To poor of St. James, 10s. by overseers. To sister in law Elizabeth Minter, 13s. 4d. To grandchild John Fiske £30 & to other grandchildren Anne, Martha & William Fiske, £20 each. To Grandchild Elizabeth Fiske, £30 & to other grandchildren Mary, Sara, & Nathaniel Fiske, £20 each. Rest of goods, bills, bonds & Chattels, within & withour house, to go to executors to be equally divided between them; they to pay legacies, funeral & probate costs, with any money then remaining to go to executors. Sons in law John Fiske & Elias Fiske to be executors. Witness: Jeffery Fiske.4

Mary departed this life in the parish of St. James, South Elham. Her will was probated on 24 November 1620.
