     Johan Jacob was born in 1750 in Pennsylvania. Johan married Magdalena (?) in 1771 in York County, Pennsylvania, at Canadochly Union Church.7 The 1810 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Chanceford Township, York County, Pennsylvania, the family of Jacob [00001:00000]. His son Michael is listed dircectly below him.8 Johan made his will on 21 September 1821 at Washington Boro, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

In the name of God Amen I Jacob Eckert of the village of Washington, County of Lancaster & state of Pennsylvania being sick & weak of body but of sound mind & understanding considering the certainty of death & uncertainty of the time thereof & being desirous to settle my earthly affairs & thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence. I do therefore make & publish this my last will & testament, in manor & form following that is to say: first & principally, I comit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, & my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after mentioned & named & after my debts & funeral charges paid I devise & bequeath as follows. I give & bequeath unto my dear & beloved wife Margaret Eckert all that certain house & lot of ground with its appurtenances there unto belonging whereon I now live with & all my property which I possess both real & personal. Bond, notes, book accounts to her the said Margaret Eckert, my true lawful & well beloved wife, to her & her heirs & assigns forever. Item two: I give & devise unto my oldest son, Jacob Eckert thirty-five cents. 3rd I give & devise unto my second son, Michael Eckert thirty-five cents. 4th I give & devise unto my third son, Philip Eckert thirty-five cents. 5th I give & devise unto my five daughters: Margaret Shearborn, Barbara Peterman, Catharine Tyson, Mary Miller, & Elizabeth Hobel each thirty-five cents to them & their heirs. And lastly, I do hereby constitute my dear wife Margaret Eckert & Michael Otstall of the village of Washington, county & state aforesaid to be my executrix & executor of this my last will & testament, revoking & annulling all former wills by me heretofore made satisfying & confirming this my last will & testament. In testimony whereof I have unto set my hand by making my mark & affixing my seal this twenty second day of September in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred & twenty-one.

Signed, sealed & published & declared by Jacob Eckert, the above named testator as for his last will & testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence & in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto Michael Otstall, Leonhard Hersh, Lancaster County on the 26th day of October Anno Domini 1821 before me the subscriber personally appeared Michael Otstall who upon his solemn affirmation & Leonard Hersh who on this corporal oath did severely declare, dipose, & say they were present & saw Jacob Eckert make his mark to the within instrument in writing & heard him publish, pronounce, & declare the same as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of the doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief. Johan departed this life in Washington Boro, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His will was probated on 26 October 1821 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.9 Johan married Margaretha Helger circa 1880.
