     Robert was born circa 1366 in Derbyshire, England, at the manor of Dethick in the parish of Ashover. Robert died on Thursday, 21 July 1403 in the battle of Shrewsbury in Shropshire along with his son, Thomas. The battle was fought between the forces of the King, Henry IV, and a rebelious force out of Northumberland led by Henry Percy and his uncle Thomas Percy. There were approxiamately 8,000 men involved in the battle. At the end of the fighting, the dead were all buried in a mass burial pit on which Battlefield Chapel was built to honor the dead of both sides.2
