In the name of God Amen This fourteenth day of June in 1727 I John Crowel tenant of South Sea in the town of Yarmouth in the County of Barnstable in his Majesty’s Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Husbandman being aged and in Calling to mind my Mortality and knowing ye is appointed unto all men once to die but being now through ye Goodness of God in health of body and of Sound ye disposing mind ye memory do make ordain this my Last Will ye Testament, that is to say
Imprimis and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God who gave it me and my body to the earth to be buried in decent Christian manner at the Discretion of my Executor herein after Named nothing Doubting but that at the great Day it shall br raised again by the mighty Power of God, and as Touching Such Worldly Estate where with it Pleased God to bless me in this Life I give and bequeath in manner ye form following Viz: First it is my will that my funeral Charges and all my Just Debts be first well Ye truly paid by my Executor out of my movable Estate and then - - -
I give and bequeath to Hannah my beloved wife all of ye remainder of my movable & Peersonal Estate within house ye without where ever it Shall be found To be at her own disposal forever and also I give unto her my Beloved wife ye whole use and Improvement ye profit of all my Real Estate while she remain my widow - - -
Item I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Crowl ye Daughter of my Son Jabez Crowl deceased Five pounds - - -
I give and bequeath to my Son John Crowl besides what I have already given him by deed of Gift The Sum of Ten Pounds to be paid unto him or his heirsby my Son Joseph Crowl within twelve months of my decease for in Consideration of what I have hereafter Given my Son Joseph in this my Last Will - - -
Item I give ye bequeath unto my Son Ephraim Crowell his heirs and Assigns forever all my housing out housing ye with that Northern part of my homestead bounded Northerly By the Land I Gave by Deed to to my Son Joseph and Easterly by the Land of Jabez Lewis And Westerly by the Land formerly belonging to my Brother Thomas Crowel and So Extending Southerly The whole breadth of my Land from East to West until it Comes Two rods to the Southward of the spot where my barn stood formerly - - -
Item I give ye bequeath to my two grand children JudahLewis and Elizabeth Lewis The Children of my daughter Elizabeth Lewis deceased To Each of them the Sum of Tenn Shillings - - -

Item I Give and bequeath unto my Two Sons Joseph Crowel ye Ephraim Crowell to them ye their Respective heirs and assigns for Ever part & part alike all the Remainder of my Land Meadows wheresoever they fall after my Beloved wife’s decease or Marriage to be equally Divided between them on Condition that they do Jointly or Equally pay the Legacys in this my Will given to my Daughters and Grand Daughters now within one Year after the Death or Marriage of my Beloved wife or to Such as Shall Legally represent them And I Do hereby Constitute and appoint my Beloved Wife and my Son Ephraim Crowel to be my Executrix & Executor to this my Last Will ye Testament and I do hereby Utterly Renounce Disannull ye make Void all other Wills or Testaments heretofore made by me hereby ratifying this to be my Last Will ye Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & affixed my Seal The day & Year first above written

John departed this life on Thursday, 28 February 1731/32 in Yarmouth at age 90 years.3 He was buried there in The Ancient Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Here lyes ye body of Mr. John Crowell who died February 28, 1731/2 ye 91st year of his Age.4 His will was probated on 23 March 1731/32.
