Abigail was born circa 1733 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. She has to be the great granddaughter of the immigrant Edward Cowell who arrived in New England about 1640 settling in Boston where his chidren established themselves and all but one grand child. Abigail married Samuel Torrey II, son of Samuel Torrey and Abigail Snowden, on 12 July 1753 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.¹
