Abilene Cooley

F, b. before 12 March 1643, d. 17 November 1711
     Abilene was born in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Samuel Cooley. She was christened there on 12 March 1643.1 Abilene married Japhet Chapin, son of Deacon Samuel Chapin and Cecily Penny, on 22 July 1664 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut.2,3 Japhet & Abilenah had children: Samuel [7/04/1665-10/19/1729], Sarah [3/15/1668-11/23/1747], Thomas [5/20/1671-8/27/1755], John [5/14/1674-6/01/1759], Ebenezer [6/26/1676-12/12/1772], Hannah [6/21/1679-7/07/1679], Hannah [7/18/1680-9/30/1765], David [11/16/1682-7/17/1772], Jonathan [2/20/1685-3/01/1686] & Jonathan [9/23/1688-2/23/1761].2 Abilene departed this life on Tuesday, 17 November 1711 in Springfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.4 She was buried there in the Springfield Cemetery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Abilene ye wife of Mr. Japhat Chaplin Dyed on Nov. 17 1711 Aged 68 years.5
