     John was born on Friday, 8 July 1633. He was the son of John Carman & Florence Fordham. John married Hannah Seaman, daughter of Captain John Seaman and Martha Moore, in the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York. John made his will on 14 September 1684 at the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York.

Carman, John, of Hempstead, 14 Sept., 1684. Two eldest sons, John & Caleb, the field called Tylsum; they to take my brother Joshua Carmman's estate into their hands and to provide for him, if he wishes. T my son Benjamin the house & barn that were Lattin's and all land in the old field at the south. Two younger sons Johua & Joseph to have my part of the two mills when they come of age. Meanwhile the mills are to be managed by Johnn & Caleb, both grinding & sawing. Goods to dau. Abigail. Sons Samuel & Thomas to have the meadow that lies against the lot that was Robert Jackson's.
