Mary Cahoon

Mary was born after 1720 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of James Cahoon and Mary Rich. Mary married Eldad Nickerson, son of Ensign William Nickerson IV and Anna Atwood, on 31 October 1744 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Eldad and Mary had children: Anna [8/20/1747-1772] [m. 6/27/1767 John Sherman], Mary [9/17/1749] [m. 2/01/1774 Joseph Cunningham], Eldad [ 10/21/1751-1772], James [1753] [m. 11/28/1776 Hannah Dexter & 2nd Rachel Dexter], Salome [1756] [m. 7/15/1779 Jonas Gridley], Jesse [1759-5/18/1847] [m. 1781 Lydia Dexter], Elizabeth [1761] [m. 7/07/1782 Benjamin Freeman], Lucy [1763] [m. 4/14/1782 Capt. Nathaniel Atkins], Deborah [m. William McCloud as second wife] & Naomi [m. Mr. Spears]. Mary's husband, Eldad, died after 1770 in Fishpoint, Nova Scotia, Canada, leaving her a widow. Mary married second Pegleg Dexter who died from a head enjury after slipping and falling on ice in December of 1780. Mary departed this life after April 1782 in Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada. On this date, Mary released her dower rights to her step son Isaac Dexter.
