Catheryne Butcher

F, b. before 24 September 1598, d. before 10 July 1683
     Catheryne was born in Chichester, County Sussex, England. She was the daughter of Richard & Catheryne [Hargrave] Butcher. She was christened there on 24 September 1598 in St. Andrew's Church.1 Catheryne married Lieutenant Johne Budd on 21 November 1620 in Chichester, County Sussex, England, at St. Andrew's Church.2 Circa 1637, Catheryne & her husband, Johne, left London aboard the ship, bound for New England. They probably arrived at the Boston harbor in the mid 1630's. The name of their ship is uncertain..3,4 John & his family, along with twelve other families - Rev. John Young, William Wells. Jacob Corey, Peter Hallock, John Tuthill, Richard Terry, Thomas Mapes, Mathias Corwin, Robert Ackerly, Isaac Arnold, Barnabas Horton & John Conklin - sailed to Long Island where they settled at Southold. He sold land in Southold. On 9 March 1659, John's wife, Catherine, & their son, John, son John's wife Mary & Sarah, wife of Robert Tredwell had to acknowledge the consent of the sale. The family removed & resided in Rye, Westchester County, New York.5,6 Catheryne departed this life before 10 July 1683 in Rye, Westchester County, New York. On this day, her son, John, gave her daughter, Judith, her portion of her parents estate.

[S1757] The Great Migration: Passengers of the Hector, 1637 & 1638: The immigrants had sold their belongings in preparation for their immigration to New England, but the government impressed the "Hector" for its own service. The owners petitioned for its release in January 1637, but was not freed until May. It arrived at Boston, from London, on June 26, 1637 according to the records of John Winthrop.
