Thomas Blanford
M, b. 18 November 1648, d. before 28 April 1698
Thomas was born on Wednesday, 18 November 1648 in Blanford, Dorsetshire, England. He immigrated to Maryland in February of 1673. He was noted as a gentleman and titled as a planter. Soon aftr arriving, he travelled north to Massachusetts where on 18 December 1673, Thomas married Elizabeth Earnes [possibly his half cousin] in Watertown, Massachusetts. Elizabeth died shortly after the marriage and Thomas returned to Maryland in the spring of 1674. Thomas married Tabitha Wright before 13 June 1678 in Calvert County, Maryland. It was on this date that Tabitha was paying the debts of her husband William Mill's estate. She had already remarried as she was referred to as Tabitha Blanford as recorded in the estate records. Thomas made his will on 18 November 1697 at Prince George's County, Maryland.
In the name of God Amen I Thomas Blanford of Prince Georges County in the province of Maryland planter being weake & sick in body but well & sound in mind and memory believing and trusting in the Almighty and my Savior Jesus Christ who Dyed for the Remission of Sinns ______hope and trust in him I Soo believing bequeath my Soul and Spirit to his Mercy hoping to find a Joyfull Resurrection to Eternal happiness _________ and appoint this to be my last will and testament
Imprimis I will and bequeath unto my will beloved wife Tabitha all my Temporall Estate and will her to be Whole and Sole Executrix _______and trusting she will Soo and Cause my body to be decently buried after my lefes Departure.
Also that she being Sole Executrix during her life shall pay al my debts that cann be made lawfully appear and after her death my Estate to bee Equally Divided Amongst my five Children Thomas Joan Elizabeth Grace and Martha Blanford – my hore Robin the Ovall Table my gun Called Clark bop the great pot and pot racks and pairs of AnIrons three Iron ____ Only excepted All which I give to my Sonn Thomas Blanford more than his Equal part to obligate him to be Kind and Dutyfull to his mother and sisters
Item All my Books I give too him likewise more than the equall part
Item I appoint Samuel Magruder William Mills and Edward Willett to be overseers soo my Children may not be wronged In Testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand andfixed my Seal the Eighteenth Day of November the year of our Lord Sixteen hundred Ninety and Seaven.
Thomas departed this life in Prince George's County. His will was probated on 28 April 1698.
