Thomas Bird

     Thomas was born circa 1598 in England. The first record of Thomas in America was in 1639 when he purchased land in Boston that was to become Braintree. By May of 1644, he had relocated to Hartford, Connecticut, and soon after to nearby Farmington where he bought land.1 The inventory of Thomas's estate was taken on Thursday, 10 August 1662 by Thomas Bunce and John Coale. They appriased his estate to be valued at £149 5s. 10d.2 His estate was probated on 4 September 1662 at Hartford. The distribution of his estate was approved as follows: To distributed to ye Relict ye Widow to be paid her presently, & John Belden promist to look to her to see her provided for: 34£; to James Bird: 20£; To Joseph, the house and land presently, 40£; To Mary Northe; 18£; To Hannah Scott 4£.2
