James was born circa 1628 in England. James and Lydia had children: Thomas, James [ -1709], Rebecca [m. Samuel Lamb], Hannah [m. Nathaniel Morgan], Lydia [Peletiah Morgan], Mehitable & Elizabeth. James departed this life before 5 November 1708 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut.
An agreement, dated 5 November 1708, witnesseth: That we, the subscribers, being the heirs and proper inheritors of the estate of our honored father, James Bird, late of Farmington, decd., for a quiet and peaceable settlement of the said estate in manner and form following: First, it is agreed and concluded that Thomas Bird, his heirs and assigns, shall have and enjoy all the lands that was the sd. James Bird’s at the time of his decease, in consideration whereof the sd. Thomas Burd doth covenant and agree to discharge and pay all those debts that were due from the sd. James Burd, at the time of his decease, and also funeral charges. Secondly, it is agreed that Samuel Lamb of Springfield, son-in-law to the sd. James Burd, om right of his wife Rebecca, Nathaniel Morgan of Springfield, in right of his wife Hannah, Peletiah Morgan of Springfield in right of his wife Lydia, Mehetable Burd, the daughter of James Burd, and Elizabeth Burd, daughter of James Burd, shall enjoy their portions in personal estate. In witness whereof we have set to our hands and seals: Witness: Thomas Orton and John Clark Signed by the above subscribers.1
His estate was probated on 6 December 1708. The agreement made by the children dated 5 November 1708 was presented to the court and agreed upon.
