Josephe Benoit dit Abel

     Josephe was born on Tuesday, 4 February 1744 in Deschambault, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Jean-Francois Abel & Marguerite Marcotte. She was christened on the same day there in the church of St-Joseph.¹ On 10 November 1766, Josephe married first Antoine Perron at Deschambault. Josephe married 2nd Antoine Meran, son of Louis Mayrand and Marie-Madeleine Brunette, on 19 November 1770 in Deschambault at the church of St-Joseph.² Antoine & Josephe had children: Marie Josephe [10/28/1771], Marie Marguerite [5/29/1773-7/08/1776], Marie-Louise [2/28/1775-2/12/1811][m. 1/26/1795 Jean-Baptiste Marcotte], Pierre [1/18/1777], Marie Marguerite [6/21/17878], Antoine [7/27/1779]][m.7/06/1802 Marie-Louise Germain], Marie Marguerite [5/03-17817/21/1795], Ambroise [12/10/1782][m. 10/07/1806 Marie Marguerite Louise Cloutier] & Marie Anne 6/28/1785-7/29/1801].³ Josephe's husband, Antoine, died on 31 October 1807 in Deschambault leaving her a widow. Josephe departed this life on Wednesday, 11 August 1819 in Deschambault at age 75 years, 6 months and 7 days. She was buried there in the churchyard of St-Joseph on Friday, 13 August 1819.⁴
