He married Abigail Barker on 27 January 1707 at Rhode Island by Samuel Cranston, Governor. In a small notebook belonging to John, it was noted: " I John Wright arrived at Newport on Rhode Island to Dwell the 14th day of April In ye year of our Lord 1707." He appears to have been master of a vessel & a man of piety, intelligence, and education. His memorandum-book is bound in parchment, with a brass clasp, and is in perfect preservation. John was a weaver. Another memorandum said: "I took my departure Rhod Island y 7th day of October, and arrived at hog Island y 8th day, 1714." "Betty Rhoad died July I0, I714." John departed this life in 1737 in the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York.
