     Joseph was born circa 1637 in Buckinghamshire, England. On either the 24th or 28th of June 1644, Joseph was christened in Milford at the first Church of Milford.2 Joseph married Elizabeth (?) in 1662 in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Joseph & Sarah had children: Joseph [10/01/1663-11/23/1714][m. 6/16/1691 Mary Grover], Mary [m. Samuel Allen], James [m. Elizabeth], Mehitable [6/__/1670-7/11/1670], Hannah [4/13/1673-d.y.], Mercy [11/10/1674-12/17/1674], & Hannah [3/09/1676-10/31/1676].3,4,5 He was made a freeman in Hadley in 1670.6 Joseph married 2nd Sarah Cooley in 1678 in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Joseph and Sarah had children: Samuel [4/07/1679], & Hannah [4/27/1681].7 Joseph departed this life on Thursday, 27 November 1681 in Hadley.8 The inventory of Joseph's estate was taken on Saturday, 27 December 1681. The inventory was taken by Lt. Philip Smith, Lt. Joseph Kellog and Samuel Partridge. They valued the estate at 176 pounds 11 shillings 1 pence. His will was probated on 28 March 1682. His will states that his widow is to receive one third of the moveables and one third of the land during her natural life of widowhood as she has two young children to raise. She is to have use of the entire estate, which included the house, orchard and gardening, until the legatees are of age. His eldest son, Joseph is to get a double portion, 33 pounds 6 shillings 8 pence. He is also to receive housing and land that is located in Hadley. His daughters, Mary, and his youngest daughter, Hannah, are each to receive 16 pounds 13 shillings 8 pence which Joseph is to pay out of his portion, a small some to be paid by James. His son James is to recieve his portion of 16 poinds 13 shillings and 8 pence and land that is a house lot that his father had purchased. His youngest son, Samuel, is to receive 16 pounds 13 shillings and 8 pence and meadow lands which the legattes are not to infringe upon.9
