     Jonathan was born on Monday, 15 February 1649 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He was christened there on 17 February 1649 in the first Church of Milford. Me was baptized by Rev. Peter Prudden.3 Jonathan married Hannah Ward on 2 November 1677 in Milford at the first Church of Milford.4 Jonathan was a leading citizen of Milford, Connecticut. He was generallly called "Sergeant". He joined the church 1675. Jonathan's wife, Hannah, died on 9 June 1693 in Milford leaving him a widower.5 Jonathan married 2nd Thankful Strong, daughter of Elder John Strong II and Abigail Ford, circa 1694 in Milford at the first Church of Milford. Jonathan's wife, Thankful, died on 5 March 1726 in Milford leaving him a widower. Jonathan departed this life on Saturday, 5 December 1739 in Milford at age 90 years, 9 months and 20 days.6 He was buried there in Milford Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Here lyes ye body of Jonathan Baldwin Died dec ye 13th 1739 in ye 91st year of his age.
