     Martha was born in March 1645/46 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. In March 1646, she was christened in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut, at the Milford Church. Martha married John Hawkes circa 1663 in New Haven County, Connecticut. They resided at Hatfield, Massachusetts and later to Deerfield. On 29 February 1704, an assault by the French & Indians took place at Deerfield. His 2nd wife, Alice, son John & his family along with his daughter Elizabeth were taken & killed on the way to Canada. He went to Westbury to live with his daughter Hannah, wife of John Scott & spent the remainder of his life..1 Martha was noted as "deceased" in her father's will. She therefore died before 20 December 1680.
