Stephen de was born circa 1228 in Swynnerton, Staffordshire, England. Stephen married Joan de Waure, daughter of Roger de Waure De Eccleshall, in England. Stephen is the ancestor of the early Swynnetons of Uselwell. He came into possession of his considerable land holdings by way of his marriage to Joan. He appears to have been a great friend and companion-in-arms of his half brother, John de Swynnerton, son of Margery. Stephen departed this life in 1276 in Uselwell, Staffordshire, England.
