     William de was born in Tourville, Normandy, France. Thisright across the channel from England. He came to England with William the Conqueror in 1066 and is the progenitor of the Turvile families in England. It is douibtful that he is the father of Ralph who is shown as his son. He is more likely to be the grandfather or great grandfather of Ralph.

    Soon after the conquest of England the Tourvilles became extensive proprietors in the counties of Warwick and Leicester, being lords, in the former, of the manors of Pallington, Herdeberwe, Bedworth, Chelmescote Fulbrooke, and Neueaton ; and giving, in the latter, their name to the manor of Normanton-Turvile, the original seat of the family.
    William de Tourville the companion in arms of William the Conqueror, and was the first settler in England.
