     Elizabeth was born on Monday, 24 September 1804 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. She went by the name Eliza. Elizabeth married Seth Baldwin Torrey, son of Captain William Torrey and Mehitable Baldwin, on 26 June 1827 in Tioga County, New York. 9 August 1850, Elizabeth and her husband, Seth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Unadilla Township, Livingston County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Seth B. Taylor [51 New York], Elizabeth [46 Connecticut], George [16 New York], Elenor [8 New York], Sarah [6 New York]. Seth is a carpenter & George is a farmer.1 6 June 1860, Elizabeth and her husband Seth were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Unadilla Township. Enumerated in this household were S. B. Torrey [61 New York], Eliza [56 Connecticut], George [26 New York], Sarah [16 New York] & Charles [10 New York]. Eliza is a glove maker.2 Elizabeth's husband, Seth, died on 17 November 1869 in Unadilla Township leaving her a widow. 24 June 1870, the U.S. Federal Census listed Elizabeth living in the home of her son at Handy Township, Livingston County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were George Torry [36 New York], Abbe D [27 New York], Jonny [1 Michigan] & Eliza [66 Connecticut].3 Elizabeth departed this life on Thursday, 11 April 1895 in Unadilla Township at age 90 years, 6 months and 18 days. She was buried at Fowlerville in the Greenwood Cemetery. The inscription onher tombstone reads: Elzabeth wife of S B Torrey Born Sept 24 1804 Died April 11 1895.4
