Catharine Stalter

     Catharine was born on Wednesday, 6 July 1803 in Fairfield County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Christian & Mary Stalter. She was often referred to as Kate. Catharine married Jacob Beery, son of Jacob Beery and Nancy Geil, on 23 December 1832. Jacob & Caty had children: Priscilla [5/22/1834-2/07/1891], Mary [10/07/1835-7/06/1914][m. Elijah Imler], Elijah [4/01/1837-8/11/1872][m. Elizabeth], Gabriel [10/24/1839-3/04/1905], Isaac [11/08/1841-10/01/1842], Nancy [10/04/1843-10/07/1884] & Hiram [10/30/1848-11/10/1912][m. Almira]. 25 July 1850, Catharine and her husband, Jacob, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Sycamore Township, Wyandot County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Beery [43 Ohio], his wife: Catherine [47 Ohio], children: Priscilla [16 Ohio], Mary [15 Ohio], Elijah [13 Ohio], Gabriel [10 Ohio], Isaac [8 Ohio], Nancy [6 Ohio], & Hiram [1 Ohio].¹ 26 July 1860, Catharine and her husband Jacob were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Eden Township. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Beery [54 Ohio], his wife: Catharine [57 Ohio], children: Priscilla [25 Ohio], Eliza [23 Ohio], Gabriel [20 Ohio], Isaac [18 Ohio], Nancy [16 Ohio], & Hiram [11 Ohio].² 12 July 1870, Catharine and her husband, Jacob, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Eden Township. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Beery [64 Ohio], his wife: Catherine [65 Ohio], children: Pricilla [35 Ohio], Gabriel [31 Ohio], Isaac [28 Ohio], Nancy [23 Ohio], & Hiram [21 Ohio]. Their real estate was valued at $8,000 and personal property $600. He is a farmer.³ Catharine's husband, Jacob, died on 3 July 1885 in Eden Township leaving her a widow. Catharine departed this life on Thursday, 27 November 1890 in Eden Township at age 87 years, 4 months and 21 days. She was buried there in Union Church Cemetery.⁴
