Phebe was born in 1697 in the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Phebe married Peter Wilcocks on 15 September 1715 in Jamaica, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Peter & Phebe had children: Peter Jr. [1718-2/27/1764], Sarah [1722-9/17/1774] [m. 1745 Joseph Alen], William [1724-10/20/1800], John[1727-11/22/1776] & Stephen. In 1736, The family came to Elizabethtown from Long Island with Phebe's brothers: George, James, & John Badgley. They settled next to James & John in that part of town which was later called Westfield and now called Mountainside - it was in the valley between the first and second mountains. Phebe's husband, Peter, died on 1 June 1768 in New Providence Town, Essex County, New Jersey, leaving her a widow. Phebe departed this life on Friday, 22 November 1776 in New Providence Town, Essex County, New Jersey, at age 79 years. She was buried there in the Wilcox and Badgley Cemetery. At her grave site is a memorial stone with the inscription Phebe Badgley Wilcox died 22 November 1776.2
