Marie Simon

F, b. circa 1625, d. 8 July 1668
     Marie was born circa 1625 in Mauleon, Duex-Sevres, Poitou-Charentes, France. She was the daughter of Francois Simon, bourgeois & Louise Lemoine.1 About 1644, she left her home in France aboard a ship bound for Quebec as "Fille a Marier". A contract for the marriage of Marie & Claude Larchevesque was signed on 4 February 1645. It was drawn up by notary, Guillaume Tronquet. It notes Claude as being from La Gaillarde, Pays de Caux, Normandy & his parents as Guillaume Larchevesque & Jeanne Ley. It notes Marie as being originally from ville de Moleon, Poitou & her parents as Francois Simon, bourgeois, & Louise Lemoine..2 Marie married Claude Larchevesque on 6 February 1645 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 Marie's husband, Claude, drowned on 5 May 1659 in Ile-d'Orleans, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow.4 Marie departed this life on Sunday, 8 July 1668 in France.1
