     William was born in 1736 in Queen Anne Parish, Prince George County, Maryland. William married Mary Thrasher, daughter of Thomas Thrasher and Martha Lee, in 1771 in Frederick County, Maryland. William and Mary had at least on child, Martha [circa 1773], who married Lancelot Chunn. William departed this life on Friday, 8 December 1775 in Frederick County at age 39 years. He was buried there in the Chunn Ridgley Family Cemetery. The inscription on his stone reads: This stone is erected by Martha the wife of Lancelot Chunn in memory of her father William Ridgely who died December 8th 1775 - Aged 40 years - A man sedated of sober mind To wife and children ever kind But the great merit many have - Death sommons all men to the grave.2
