Lillian Ann Ridgely

     Lillian Ann was born on Monday, 8 September 1806 in Buckeye Town District, Frederick County, Maryland. She also went by the name Lillie. Lillian Ann married Jacob Walters on 19 December 1825 in Marion County, Ohio. This was Crawford County but for the years 1824 & 1825 was considered part of Marion County.¹ Jacob & Lillian had children: Ruth [9/25/1826-9/06/1911][m. 11/21/1844 William Drake] Elizabeth [7/04/1828-3/05/1879], Sarah [9/16 1831-8/16/1898][m. 2/11/1853 John Sanborn Chandler], John [1834-8/26/1837][m. 9/22/1863 Mary Magers], George [1836], Mary [6/01/1838-11/09/1874][m. Bacon], Sebastion [1844], Lillian Ann [1845][m. 3/01/1866 David J. Shay], Jacob [7/24/1846-8/24/1921][m. 3/19/1868 Martha McClintock], and Almirah Ann [3/20/1849-6/23/1878][m. 4/15/1869 John Cummingham Eicher]. 5 August 1850, Lillian and her husband, Jacob, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Walter [45], his wife: Lillian Ann [43 Maryland], children: Elizabeth [22 Ohio], Sarah [18 Ohio], John [16 Ohio], George [14 Ohio], Mary [12 Ohio], Wesley [10 Ohio], Matilda [8 Ohio], Sebastion [6 Ohio], Jacob [4 Ohio], & Almira [1 Ohio].² 9 June 1860, Lillian and her husband Jacob were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Walters [55 Pennsylvania], his wife: L. Ann [53 Maryland], their children: Westel [20 Ohio], L. Ann [15 Ohio], Jacob [13 Ohio], Elmira [11 Ohio], along with Henry Fryer [12 Ohio].³ 22 June 1870, Lillian and her husband, Jacob, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Wallter [66 Pennsylvania', his wife: Lillie A. [64 Maryland], servant: Jane Brown [50 Pennsylvania], George W. Smalley [12 Ohio], Marietta Walter [10 Ohio], son: Jacob Walter [23 Ohio], his wife: Martha [21 Pennsylvania], their grandchild: Francis E. [1 Ohio].⁴ 22 June 1880, Lillian and her husband, Jacob, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Walter [75 Pennsylvania], his wife: Lilli Ann [73 Maryland], John C. Eicher [32 Pennsylvania], Armeda [11 Ohio], Jessie Eicher [9 California], Franklin Powers [16 Pennsylvania - orphan].⁵ Lillian departed this life on Thursday, 28 July 1887 in Liberty Township at age 80 years, 10 months and 20 days. She was buried there in Sandusky Township in Luke Cemetery.⁶
