Corydon Chandler Randall

     Corydon Chandler was born on Friday, 30 July 1841 in Hamiliton, Ontario, Canada. He was the son son of James Janeway and Caroline Matilda Burnham.
Another family record states his birth as 14 June 1846. He was first married 12 October 1864 to Bella C. Rose, daughter of Dr. Levi C. & Cerillia Rose of Detroit. She died young 8 February 1866 and she is buried in Elmwood Cemetery. Corydon married Anna Seaman Leggett, daughter of Augustus Wright Leggett and Eliza Seaman, on 9 May 1874 in Detroit at her family home at 169 Elizabeth Street. Anna & Cory had children: Huntley Burnham Sejourney [2/02/1875-7/07/1921][m. 1909 Nannie Harrison], Ferris Seaman [8/14/1876-7/08/1939][m. 1908 Ida Wells & 2nd 8/11/1934 Hulda Catherine Witte], Chandler Corydon [8/11/1878-10/21/1953][m. 8/20/1900 Alice Kendall Stewart], Elrose Anna [9/15/1883-4/28/1948], Mortimer Allen [8/ /1884- ][m. Elisa Stukes]. He was one of Detroit's first photographers, beginning his work as a teenager in 1856. He later donated some 75,000 prints and negatives of early Detroit and its people and visitors to Mr. Burton, who put them in his collection now housed in the Detroit Public Library. 15 June 1880, Corydon and his wife, Anna, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Detroit. Enumerated in this household were Corydon C. Randall [39 Canada], his wife: Anna S. [32 New York], childrenb: Lida S. [11 Michigan], Huntley B. [5 Michigan], Ferris S. [3 Michigan]. Lewis T. Ives [46 New York][border-artist], Lewis' wife, Margaret [36 New York], Augustus Ives [19 Michigan], Percival S. Ives [16 Michigan], Valentine S. Ives [9 Michigan], & servants: Bertha Neuman [20 Michigan] & Flora McDermitt [22 Scotland]. Corydon was a photographer.³ Corydon departed this life on Monday, 31 August 1908 in Detroit at age 67 years, 1 month and 1 day. He was buried there in Detroit in the Elmwood Cemetery.
