Marie-Jeanne Quelue

Marie-Jeanne was born in Evreux, Eure, Normandy, France. She was the daughter of Jean Quelue & Marie Camus. She was christened there on 27 April 1652 in St-Gilles Church.1,2 On 30 July 1671, Marie-Jeanne left her home in Normandy aboard the ship, "Le Prince Maurice", under the command of Captain Jean Ragineau, some departing from Dieppe & others from La Rochelle. She was one of 86 young ladies who were "Filles du Roi" [26 from Paris]. The women were accompanied by Mme. Bourdon. They arrived at Quebec on the 30th of July..3 A contract was drawn up by Mr. Duquet. for the marriage of Marie-Jeanne and Jean-Baptiste Brassart. It was signed on 19 April 1672 in Quebec, Canada..4 Marie-Jeanne married Jean-Baptiste Brassart, son of Antoine Brassart and Francoise Merry, on 26 April 1672 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.5 Jean Baptiste & Marie-Jeanne had children: Marie Jeanne Anne [8/02/1674-12/10/1750][m. 1/11/1694 Pierre Pillott], Marie Madeleine [9/09/1676-6/01/1752][m. 5/04/1711 Paul Chalifoux], Marie Francoise [1/10/1679-1/20/1728][m. 11/22/1700 Pierre Corbin & 2nd 11/23/1712 Jean-Baptiste Briere], Marie Louise [3/18/1681-3/20/1681], Marie Catherine [6/06/1682][m. 10/21/1710 Jean Baptiste Pillotte], Marie Anne [1/17/1685-1/30/1752], Anne Jacqueline [8/31/1987-9/04/1687], Jean Baptiste [3/08/1689-10/01/1749][m. 1/10/1717 Marie-Francoise Huppe dit LaGroix], child [2/11/1691-2/11/1691], Jean Baptiste 1/11/1692-9/20/1753]m. 7/19/1723 Marie Joseph Chalifour], Joseph Jacques [3/12/1694-3/31/1715] & Jean-Marie [4/24/1696].6
Marie-Jeanne's husband, Jean-Baptiste, died on 21 February 1715 in ville de Quebec leaving her a widow. 1716, Marie-Jeanne and her husband, Jean-Baptiste, were listed on the Canadian Census in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Marie-Jeanne Queleve [62 years], Jean-Baptiste Brassard [deceased], Jean-Baptiste [27 years][Shoemaker & a church warden of the Cathedral], Jean [22 years], Jean-Marie [18 years]. Marie-Jeanne departed this life on Tuesday, 1 April 1721 in ville de Quebec. She was buried there in the cemetery of Notre Dame on Wednesday, 2 April 1721.7
