Francois-Michel Provost

     Francois-Michel was born on Thursday, 3 January 1669 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Francois Provost & Marguerite Gailard du Plessis. He was christened there on 16 January 1669 in the Basilica of Notre Dame.¹ A contract for the marriage of Francois-Michel and Marie-Catherine Bonhomme was signed on 23 October 1695 in Cote-St-Michel, ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. The notary, Louis Chambalon wrote the contract that gives Francois' parents as Francois Provost and Marguerite Gaillard and that Marie Catherine's parents were Ignace Bonhomme and Agnes Morin.² Francois-Michel & Marie-Catherine had children: Francois [1696], Joseph [1697-3/10/1770][m. 10/22/1725 Marie-Louise Gauthier dit Landreville], Marie-Anne [1698-9/22/1767][m. 11/23/1718 Pierre Gautheir dit Landreville], Marie Madeleine [3/26/1700-2/07/1759][m. 8/17/1730 Jean-Francois Larcheveque], Jean Baptiste [5/08/1701], Rene [12/23/1702-2/26/1703], Noel [2/07/1704-5/21/1752][m. 1/30/1730 Marie-Anne Han dit Chausse], Charles [4/03/1705-8/26/1743][m. 4/24/1741 Marie-Charlotte Ricasse], Marie Marguerite [7/08/1706-11/27/1736][m. 10/29/1726 Jean-Baptiste Bousquet], a son [5/27/1707], Jean Baptiste [3/21/1708], Pierre [7/13/1709-4/26/1773][m. 1/12/1739 Marie-Anne Gauthier dit Landreville & 2nd 11/27/1752 Marie-Louise Coderre] & Joseph Augustin [9/13/1710-12/20/1710].³ Francois-Michel departed this life on Thursday, 4 June 1711 in Ste-Foy, ville de Quebec at age 42 years, 5 months and 1 day. He was buried there in the churchyard of Notre Dame de la Foy Church on Friday, 5 June 1711.⁴
