Richard Plantagenet

     Richard was born on Saturday, 21 September 1411. He was the son of Richard Plantagenet of Conisburgh, 3rd Earl of Cambridge, & Anne de Mortimer. His parents both died when he was young. Ralph Neville was appointed his guardian. After Ralph died, his wife, Joan Beaufort, took over his guardianship.¹ On 19 May 1426, he was knighted. Richard married Cicely Neville, daughter of Ralph Neville and Lady Joan (?) de Beaufort, in October 1429.¹ On 12 May 1432, he received his full inheritance. Richard died on Sunday, 30 December 1460 at the Battle of Wakefield [War of the Roses]. He was buried at Fotheringhay, Northamptonshire, England, in the church of St. Mary & All Saints.¹
