     Thomas was born on Wednesday, 30 June 1649 in Connecticut. Thomas married Hannah Newell, daughter of Thomas Newell and Rebecca Olmsted, circa 1674 in Farmington. Thomas North enlisted under Captain Henchman in King Philip's War. He was stationed with Connecticut troops in the vicinity of Boston in 1675 & was with the garrison at Hadley, Mass., in the summer of 1676. ["Soldiers in King Philip's War"] He was made freeman there February 8, 1678 & received a grant of land for his military services in or near Northington, now Avon, where he & Joseph Woodford were pioneer settlers. There he llived on the eastside of the river near the old Marshall's tavern, "under the mountain" & north of the Hartford & Albany turnpike. He was a magistrate of the colony of Connecticut.2 Thomas departed this life in Town of Farmington. Letters of Administration of his estate were granted on 1 December 1712 to Hannah North, widow and to Thomas North, a son of the deceased..3 The inventory of Thomas's estate was taken on Monday, 19 December 1712 taken by Samuel Newell, Joseph North and Thomas Bird. The appriased value of the estate was £233 13s. 10d. An additional inventory was taken on 6 April 1713 by Samuel Newell & Joseph North the value of this inventory was £39 12s 7d.4,5 Also on 6 April 1713: "This court appointed Hannah North of Farmington guardian to her 2 daughters: Lydia & Sarah, both minors above the age of 14 years, and also allowed the said Hannah North to be guardian to her son, Ebenezer North, 14 years of age. Joseph North, a minor, chose his brother, Thomas North to be his guardian. According to the division on this same date: To Jane North, widow of John, relict ,, 9 pounds 12 shillings 3 pence. "To Thomas North, eldest son [broken page]. To Nathaniel, Joseph, Ebenezer, Hannah, Mary, Rebekah, Lydia, & Sarah North, to each of them 2 pounds 2shillings 8 pence & to appoint John Stanley, Samuel Newell & Joseph North of Farmington, as distributors. Another divison of the estate was done on 17 November 1713 to the same recipients.6,7

Northington [Avon] 1712 aged 63. He m. 1669 Hannah, daughter of Thomas & Rebecca [Olmstead] Newell. She was b. 1656 & baptism April 14, 1658 & d. November 4, 1757. If her dates are correctly given, she was married at the age of 13, was the mother of 2 sons at 17, and lived to be 101. She & her husband were both members of the church.

    The General Assembly & the Court of Elections sitting at Hartford acted as follows: April 6, 1713: "This court appointed Hannah North of Farmington guardian to her 2 daughters: Lydia & Sarah, both minors above the age of 14 years, and also allow the said Hannah North to be guardian to her son, Ebenezer North, 14 years of age. Joseph North, a minor, chose Thomas North to be his guardian. Recog. 100 pounds."
    April 6, 1713-4: Inventory 99 pounds 12 shillings 7 pence - taken by Samuel Newell & Joseph North. "Thomas North, administrator, exhibits now an account of his administrative order to distribute the estate.
    To Jane North, widow relict ,,, 9 pounds 12 shillings 3 pence. To Thomas North, eldest son [broken page]. To Nathaniel, Joseph, Ebenezer, Hannah, Mary, Rebekah, Lydia, & Sarah North, to each of them 2 pounds 2 shillings 8 pence & the point John Stanley, Samuel Newell & Joseph North of Farmington, dist."
    May 13, 1714: "Upon the petiton of Hannah North & Thomas North, administrators of Thomas North of Farmington, deceased: this assembly empowere the said administrators to make & execute a deed of 3 acres of land to the hisrs of Joseph Bird, deceased, pursuant to a bargain between Thomas North, deceased, & him the said Joseph Bird, deceased."
