Burwell Newton

     Burwell was born in 1729 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He was the son of Abner Newton and Mary Burwell. Burwell married Eunice Johnson, daughter of Deacon Benjamin Johnson and Eunice Sutliffe, circa 1753 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Burwell and Eunice had children: Abiather [3/10 1754-3/92/1841] [m. 1782 Annah Cowles], Burwell [1/06/1757-3/29/1846] [m. 9/29/1795 & 11/18/1795 Sybil Harvey], Submit [6/17/1762-7/23/1840] [m. Samuel Campell], Roger [9/29/1764-5/16/1767], Abner [12/27/1764-9/09/1852] [m. Abigail Fairchild], Roger [5/28/1768-1/31/1849] [m. Eunice Hyde] & Isaac [-6/25/1844].¹ Burwell departed this life on Thursday, 16 April 1807 there in Durham. He was buried there in the Old Durham Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Revolutionary War Burwell Newton Capt. Norton's Co. Died Apr. 16. 1807 Æ. 78.¹
