Ruth was born on Monday, 27 October 1664 in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Joseph Judson and Sarah Porter. Ruth married Samuel Wells in 1683 in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, at the Old Congregational Church. Samuel & Ruth had children: Joshua [8/29/1684], Hannah [11/22/1690][m. Mr. Buell], Samuel [12/26/1693][m. Esther Elsworth], Ruth [1/29/1696[m. Daniel Ely], Sarah [12/16/1700][m. John Clark], Rebecca [10/03/1703][m. Thomas Pitkin] & James [1706-2/10/1725]. Ruth's husband, Samuel, died on 3 October 1733 in Hartford leaving her a widow.2 Ruth made her will on 9 September 1741 at Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. Ruth departed this life on Saturday, 2 May 1744 in Hartford at age 79 years, 6 months and 5 days. She was buried there in Center Cemetery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Here was Buried ye Body of Mrs. Ruth Wells widow of Mr. Samuel Well Deceased - who died May ye 2nd 1744 in the 80th year of her life.3 Her will was probated on 4 September 1744.
