William Grymwade
M, b. circa 1516, d. before 15 April 1570
William was born circa 1516 in Nedging, County Suffolk, England. He was the son of Thomas Grymwade. William married Ann Freman circa 1538.1 William made his will on 15 April 1569.
I William Grymwade of Whatefilde hall in the County of Suffolk yeoman . . . to Ann my wife her dwelling and occupyenge of my fearme called whatefelde hall which I nowe dwell in and occupye with all . . . the landes meadowes woodes and pastures conteynede in the same so longe as she doo and shall keape her selfe a wydowe payenge the yearely ferme for the same and until the feaste of St. Michaell the archangel from thence and ymmedyatly ensuynge and no longer Also I gyve her . . . all the Corne bothe one the grownde and in the bearnes and chambers & all and singular my goods and cattells whatsoever except such things and goods as shall hereafter be geven away . . . to my sonne Edmunde Grymwade the seide lease and terme of years conteyned in the same . . .frely to gyve and sell ymmedatlye after and from the feaste of Saynt Michaell the archangel next ensuynge the tyme that my seide wife shall either be maryed agen or diseaced . . . payenge out the same to my daughter Elizabeth and my sonne Gregory such somes of money . . . as hereafter . . .ys expressed . . .to my seide sonne Edmonde tenne sheepe . . . to my daughter Elizabeth the some of forty pounds. . .to my younger sonne Gregory Grymwade the some of one hundrethe pounds. . . to Rose the nowe wife of my seide sonne Edmonde . . . the some of fourty pounds. . . to the children of my sonne Thomas and Wylliam that is to say Alice Anne and Margaret. . . each sixe pounds thirene shillings fower pence at age 21 . . . to my sonne Wylliam and Thomas seide thre children . . . viz Alice Anne and Margaret eyther of them one ewe and a lambe . . . to my sonne Thomas twenty drye sheep and to my sonne Wylliam twenty drye sheepe . . . to my brother Edmund Grymwood of Wattisham the some of eight shillings yearely durynge his natural lyfe . . . to either of my seide brothers children two ewe lambes . . . my servants lytlle &[ great [and a few other people] . . . to either of my seide two sonnes William and Thomas an acre if wood growynge in my wood with fre egress and regress into and from the same for sellynge and carrynge of the same . . . my seide wife . . . and my seide sonne Edmunde . . .executors . . . my sonne William and Thomas to be supervisors.2
