John Embree II

M, b. circa 1678
     John was born circa 1678 in the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of John Embree I and Sarah Parcell. John married Ruth Denton, daughter of Samuel Denton and Abigail Barlow, in 1714 in the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York.1 John and Ruth had children: Thomas [ca 1715] & Ruth [ca 1717] [m. 9/10/1735 Robert Shadbolt]. John married 2nd Charity Doughty in 1720 in Hempstead Town.1 John and Charity had one child, Mary [ca1735] [m. 10/11/1757 Thomas Willett]. John made his will on 9 February 1747.

John Embree of Flushing in Queens County, being sick and weak, to my wife Charity, my best bed & furniture, pillows, green bed quilt, head cloths and teaster cloths. ....to my daughter Mary my next best bed bedding & the yallow quilt & cotton spreads & my two best tablecloths. My executor are to sell the dwelling house, lands & meadow where I now live in Flushing & all personal property. From the money they are to pay my grandson Embree Shagbolt son of my daughter Ruth Shagbolt 10 lbs., 1/3 remainder to wife, 1/3 to son Thomas (if living) & 1/3 to daughter Mary Embree. Ex'rs to put at interest the share of my son Thomas & pay the interest to my daughter Mary until my son Thomas returns, or there is some certainty of his death.The witnesses were David Roe Obidiah Doughty & Thomas Hicks Jr.2

His will was probated on 24 June 1762. On 15 May 1762, the executors exhibited the will before the court and later proved on this date.
