John Townsend

     John was born circa 1703 in the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of "Mill" John Townsend and Ester Smith. John married Sarah Wright in 1738. John's wife, an unknown person , died on 22 April 1780 in Edmund Wright's homestead, Oyster Bay Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York, leaving him a widower. John departed this life on Friday, 22 December 1786 in the Town of Oyster Bay. He was buried there in the Baptist Church Graveyard. Which was southeast of the church. Their stones were brought from England by their son Ephraim.
