Jonathan Searing

M, b. circa 1690, d. before 2 September 1738
     Jonathan was born circa 1690 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of John Searing I and Susanah Pine. Jonathan married Elizabeth (?) in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Jonathan & Elizabeth had children: Micah, Jonathan, Benjamin, John and a daughter Mary [born after 1720]. Jonathan made his will on 5 April 1737 at Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York.

The fifth day of April, in the year 1737, I Jonathan Searing, of the town of Hempstead being very sick. I leave to my wife, Elizabeth the best room in my house at the north side, above and below, with the third part of the cellar, and 1/3 of the lands and orchards at the sourh side, during her life. I leve to my sons, Jonathan, Benjamn and John , all my lands and tenements, and rights of land both in the north woods and south woods. My son Jonathan is to pay to my daughter Mary, 30 pounds when she is 18. I leave to my son Micah, 6 shillings over and above what I have already given. I leave to my daughter Mary, one featherbed and the side saddle she commonly rides on. My executors are to sell my house and land in the town spot at Hempstead, and all the rest of my moveable estate, and after payment of debt the remainder to be paid to my wife and my sons Benjamin and John. I make my wife and my sons Jonathan and Benjamin and Mordecai Lester, executors. Witnesses: John Searing Jr. Daniel Searing & John Lester.1,2

Jonathan departed this life in Hempstead Town. His will was probated on 2 September 1738.
