Israel was born in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of Henry Rowland and Rebecca (?) Israel married Elizabeth (?) circa 1693 in Connecticut. Israel and Elizabeth had children: Mary [chr 3/10/1694/95-4/17/1733][m. 3/17/1717 Thomad Bennett], Elizabeth [chr. 3/10/1694/95][m. Peter Bennett], Bethia [chr. 6/13//1697][m. Mr. Gray], Israel [m. daughtr of Thomas Williams], Rebecca [chr. 4/05/1702][m. 8/03/1726 Jabez Davis], Deborah [chr. 10/03/1703-8/13/1774][m. 5/24/1723 Thomas Staples, “Sr.”], Judeanne [chr. 6/02/1706] & John [chr. 10/01/1710][m. 12/13/1738 Sara Lyon]. Israel made his will on 6 November 1719.
November the 16th 1719 I Israel Rowland of Fairfield in the Colony of Connecticut in New England being under much indisposition of body but of Sound Mind & perfect memory do make this my Last Will & Testament in Manner following – First & principally I commit my precious Soul to God who gave it, hoping for the pardon of all my sins through Jesus Christ my only Savior & my body to be decently buryed at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named & as to the Worldly Estate it hath pleased God to favor me with I dispose of as followeth my will is that my just debts & funeral charges shall be first paid. - - - My will is that I do hereby give to my son Israel Rowland all the remainder of my long lot lying below Apswich River and all my long lot lying above said river except one hundred acres herein after given to my son John Rolwand, my said son Israel paying to my three daughters namely Mary Bennett Elizabeth Bennett & Bethia Gray each five shillings & to my three younger daughters namely Rebeckah Rowland Deborah Rowland & Judan Rowland each ten pounds when they shall severally arrive to the age of eighteen years or Marriage if sooner - - Item my will is I do hereby give to my son John Rowland & to his heirs & Assigns forever one hundred acres of my long lot to begin at Apswich River ye to ________ the whole breath of said lot till it make the full quantity of one hundred acres. And I do hereby make my said son Israel Sole executor of this my last Will and Testament in confirmation whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year above ____ - - - Israel Rowland - - -Signed Sealed Declared to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of Andrew Burr David Sturges Nathan Hubbell.2
