     William was born on Monday, 12 November 1883 at Van Wert County, Ohio. His obituary stated his birth to be 12 November 1889. He was the son of Joseph Donald McCurdy and Dorothea A. Vought. William also went by the name of Arthur. 1910, William was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Lima, Allen County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Arthur McCurdy [28 Ohio]. He was living with Noble [29 Ohio] & Theresa Fox [23 Ohio]. They resided at 217 Grand. They had been married two years with no children.1 William married Chloe Davis circa 1912. When Chloe died, Helen went to live with Arthur's sister, Blanche. Blanche went to Ohio and brought Helen back to live with her family. When Arthur remarried, she took Helen back to live with him. It broke her heart. Blanche & her family always visited Arthur & his family when they went to Ohio. An unknown person married 2nd Hazel A. Gipe on 10 June 1915 at Van Wert County, Ohio. 2 January 1920, William was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Lima, Allen County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Arthur McCurdy [34 Ohio], Hazel [27 Ohio], Richard [1 Ohio], Helen [6 Ohio]. They lived at 1009 Brice Ave.2 9 April 1930, William and his wife, Hazel, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Lima Township, Allen County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were W. Arthur McCurdy [43 Ohio], Hazel A. [37 Ohio], Helen B. [16 Ohio], Richard A. [11 Ohio]. He was 24 years old when he was first married & she was 23 years old.3 William departed this life on Sunday, 19 January 1969 at his home, 1009 Brice, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, at age 85 years, 2 months and 7 days.

WILLIAM McCURDY
     William A. (Mac) McCurdy. 79, of 1009 Brice died 2:45 p.m. Sunday in his home.
     He was born Nov. 12, 1889, in Van Wert, the son of Joseph Donald and Dolly Vought McCurdy. He married Hazel A. Gipe McCurdy in 1915 at Van Wert, and she survives.
     Mr. McCurdy retired from Ohio Street Foundry in 1958. He was a former interurban conductor, and an auto dealer.
     A member of Lima Baha'l Community. He is also survived by a son, Richard A. of Libertyville, Ill. And two grandchildren. A daughter, Helen, preceded him in death.
     Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Siferd Westwood Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.[Lima News - 20 January 1969]



William was laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio.4
