     Dorothea was born on Thursday, 2 December 1858 at Connelsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of William & Eliza Vought.1 Dorothea also went by the name of Dollie. Dorothea married Joseph Donald McCurdy, son of William M. McCurdy I and Zilpha Matthews, on 29 June 1878 at Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio.2,3 As of 29 June 1878,her married name was McCurdy.2,3 Joseph & Dallie resided in Van Wert County, Ohio in 1885. 19 June 1880, Dorothea and her husband Joseph were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Joseph D. McCurdy [25 Ohio], D9llie A. [20 Pennsylvania], Bertha M. [7/12 Ohio]. [Enum.Dist 104, sheet 30, line 28]4 Dorothea married John D. Bowen in 1890 at Ohio. Their marriage ended about 1907. 8 June 1900, Dorothea and her husband John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Amanda Township, Allen County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were John Bowen [Aug 1860 - 39 Ohio], Dollie [Dec 1858 - 42 Pennsylvania], Blanche McCurdy [Aug 1881 - 18 Ohio], William McCurdy [Nov 1883 - 16 Ohio], Joseph E. [Mar 1886 - 14 Ohio], Ira T. Bowen [Aug 1891 - 8 Ohio], Ester E. [Jul 1893 - 6 Ohio], Earl [Sep 1897 - 2 Ohio], Mabel [May 1899 - 1 Ohio]. Dollie had eight children all living. They had been married 10 years.5 In 1906-1907, John & Dollie resided at 126 Water Street in Lima, Ohio. By 1907-1908, Dollie is residing there with her son Arthur McCurdy. They did not appear there before or after those dates.6 23 April 1910, Dorothea was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. Enumerated in this household were Dollie O. Dowen [50 Pennsylvania][divorced], Earl [13 Ohio], Mabel R. [12 Ohio]. She had 8 children, 3 living.7 1920, Dorothea was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Dorothy Bowen [60 Pennsylvania-divorded][housekeeper lodging home], Ester Leatherman [26 Ohio - divorced daughter], Earl Bowen [23 Ohio][mechanic repair shop]. They resided on Elizabeth Street.8 9 April 1930, Dorothea was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Earl A. Bowen [single][33 Ohio], Dorothy A. [mother][widow][70 Pennsylvania], John E. Bowen [grandson][9 Ohio]. They live on Soldan Avenue. Earl works in an automobile factory.9 Dorothea died on Thursday, 29 March 1934 at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at age 75 years, 3 months and 27 days of cerebral thrombrosis.10 She was buried on 2 April 1934 at Evergreen Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, in section E, range 28, grave number 28.11
