Richard was born on Wednesday, 22 May 1918 at Lima, Allen County, Ohio. He was the son of William Arthur McCurdy and Hazel A. Gipe. Richard married Barbara M. Fosse on 29 May 1941 at River Forest, Cook County, Illinois. Richard went to Ohio Northern University and then to graduate school in Chicago – Northwestern University School of Jounalism. His studies were interrupted by the war which he spent in Europe as a medic. He returned and worked in the Chicago area as a photo-journalist. Later the family lived many years in Luxemburg where Barbara taught school and Richard worked on independent photo projects. Richard died on Friday, 6 July 1990 at the Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Virginia, at age 72 years, 1 month and 14 days of cancer.RICHARD A. McCURDY
Word has been received of the death Friday at the Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., of Lima native Richard A. McCurdy, 72, of Reston, Va., and the country of Luxembourg. Among survivors are his wife, Barbara M. McCurdy; two daughters; and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, Va. Richard was laid to rest on 9 July 1990 in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, Fairfax County, Virginia.
