Harry A. McCurdy

     Harry was born on Saturday, 9 August 1902 at the family farm on Stelzer Road, Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. He was the son of Sidney McCurdy and Cora Ellen Peterman. Harry married Lela Ruth Beery Easter Sunday, 5 April 1931 by Rev. Trenton O. Copus at the Beery home on Mansfield Road U.S, 30, Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio.¹ Harry was raised on the family homestead of James & Elizabeth McCurdy. In 1954, they purchased a small farm not far from this homestead. Later in life, Harry worked as a night watchman for the General Electric Company. 25 May 1940, Harry listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Harry A. [37, Ohio], his wife Lela R. [33, Ohio], & Marilyn Joyce [8, Ohio]. They were renting a farm for 5 dollars a month. [Note - This farm was the "Peterman Farm" which originally belonged to Harry's grandparents. - KLM]² Harry died on Friday, 19 November 1982 at his home at 4163 State Route 96, Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, at age 80 years, 3 months and 10 days from heart failure. He just laid back & went to sleep. He was buried on 23 November 1982 at the Crall Cemetery [Liberty Chapel], Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, in grave number 87.
