     Joseph was born on Thursday, 9 April 1812 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Joseph Miller and Elizabeth Lentz. Joseph married Elizabeth B. Bowerman, daughter of Johannes Bauerman and Sarah Schiessley, circa 1833 in Jackson Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Joseph and Elizabeth had children: John [4/20/1834-5/18/1911][m. Ella Mary Frye]. 23 September 1850, Joseph and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township. Enumerated in this household were Joseph Miller [58 Pennsylvania], Elizabeth [55 Pennsylvania], Sarah [16 Pennsylvania] & John [10 Pennsylvania]. John is a farmer with real property valued at $5000 and personal property valued at $400. Their son, Joseph, age 32, with his family, is listed directly below them.3 3 June 1880, Joseph and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township. Enumerated in this household were Joseph Miller Sr. [68 Pennsylvania], Elizabeth [66 Pennsylvania], Sarah [26 Pennsylvania]. Joseph is a farmer. Their son, Joseph, age 42, is listed directly above them.4 Joseph departed this life on Friday, 17 September 1897 in Jackson Township at age 85 years, 5 months and 8 days. He was buried there at Fisherville in Messiah Lutheran Cemetery.5
