Rachael McKnight

Rachael was born on Tuesday, 6 March 1764 in Blooming Grove, Orange County, New York. Rachael married Hanley Smith Mapes, son of Samuel Mapes and Mary Smith, on 10 October 1779 in Goshen, Orange County, New York. Smith & Rachael had children: Samuel [10/16/1780] Elizabeth [5/18/1785], Jesse [7/07/1788], Ira [9/04/1790], William Warrington [8/17/1792], Thomas [7/17/1894], Erastus [7/12/1797], Mary [6/16/1801] & Isaac [10/16/1803]. The 1790 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at the Town of Wallkill, Orange County, New York, the family of Smith Mapes [13:2].1 Soon after being in the 1800 census in Canisteo, the moved on to Yate County, adjacent to the north, where they are listed as early settlers of New York in Benton Center church records. By 1810 they had moved on again, this time to Ontario county, adjacent to the north of Yate County. By 1830, the family had again moved to the north, to Monroe County, adjacent to the north of of Ontario County. Rachael's husband, Smith, died on 10 May 1830 in Rochester, Monroe County, New York, leaving her a widow. Rachael departed this life on Monday, 20 May 1833 in Orleans County, New York, at age 69 years, 2 months and 14 days.
