Simone Maufet

     Simone was born on Saturday, 22 December 1663 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. She was christened there on 23 December 1663 in the Basilica of Notre Dame.¹ A contract for the marriage of Louis Brassart & Simone Maufet was signed on 28 January 1680 at Quebec, Canada. This contract was drawn up by the notary, Mr. Duquet. It noted his parents as the late Antoine Brassard & Francoise Mery and Simone's parents as the late Pierre Maufay & Marie Duval.² She married Louis on this very day. Enumerated in this household were Marie Duval [51 years - widow], Andre Maufet [22 years], Simone Maufat [17 years], Joseph Maufet [11 years], Catherine Maufet [9 years], Marie-Agnes Maufet [8 years] & Marie [5 years].³ 1681, Simone and her husband, Louis, were listed on the Canadian Census in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Louis Brassart [27 years] & Simome Maufay [17 years].⁴ Simone's husband, Louis, died after 1 March 1718 in ville de Quebec leaving her a widow.⁵ She married second on 7 February 1718, Jacques Chevaudier dit Lapine at Notre Dame de Quebec.⁶ Simone departed this life on Wednesday, 10 March 1745 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at age 81 years, 2 months and 16 days. She was buried there in the cemetery of Notre Dame on Thursday, 11 March 1745.⁷
