     Eva was born in 1204 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Dyfed, Wales, at Pembroke Castle. She and her sisters were described as being handsome, high-spirited girls.2 Eva married William de Braose circa 1221. After the death of her husband, Eva, Baroness de Braose, held de Braose lands and castles in her own right. She is listed as holder of Totnes in 1230. It is recorded on the Close Rolls (1234-1237) that Eva was granted 12 marks by King Henry III to strengthen Hay Castle.3 Eva's husband, William, died on 2 May 1230 in the marshland at the foot of the royal home, Garth Celyn, Gwynedd, Wales, leaving her a widow. Eva departed this life in 1246.
