Francois Marguerie

     Francois was born in Rouen, Normandy, France. He was a man of substance. He was an oarmaker and a maritme merchant working out of the port city of Rouen. He was a member of the Company of Merchants of Rouen and of Saint Malo, which was organized by Samuel Champlain to monopolize the fur trade in New France. Francois married Marthe Romain on 7 October 1607 in Rouen, Normandy, France, at St-Vivien Church.
