Obituary - Robert M. Mapes died at the house of Mrs. John Decker on Mason Street Monday , in the village, where he has been boarding for some years past, at the age of 82 years. Mr. Mapes had been ill only since Sunday morning. Mr. Mapes was well known in this vicinity , he having came here some years ago. He is the father of D.S. Mapes, the agent of the Wallkill Valley and Mongomery and Erie Railroads at the station in this village
. He was buried there in the Brick Church Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Robert M. Mapes Born Nov. 30 1811 - Died Jan 1 1894.6
